Temporary stoppage of the STL installations at Lubumbashi within the context of the maintenance plan (15/01/2005)


Together with its partners, the OM group and Gécamines, the Forrest Group hereby announces that the STL coke oven at Lubumbashi was stopped on the 15th January 2005 in accordance with its maintenance plan.

The maintenance operations are estimated to last between 10 and 12 weeks, and the re-start of cobaltiferous alloy production is planned for the middle of April 2005 at the latest.

STL manufactures a cobaltiferous alloy based on the slag from the mine dump at Lubumbashi.

The installations are owned by the GTL company, whose shareholders are the OM Group, holding 55 %, the Forrest Group with 25 % and Gécamines with 20 %.

The installations are managed by the STL company, a subsidiary of the GTL company.

The Forrest Group is active in Africa in the mining sector, metallurgy, cement plants, public and private works, electricity, steel constructions, and the agricultural sector.

The Group also actively supports various activities in the areas of health and education.
